The Figure shows the results of a Veterans Administration (VA) study examining what it is that makes it more difficult to keep patients in a therapeutic range. As seen in the Table, the study found that factors such as multiple non-warfarin medications, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, and heart failure result in a decreased time within an adequate therapeutic range.[77]
