First HF and First AFib

As a corollary of the association seen in the previous Figure, the other association that physicians should be aware of is the association of heart failure in patients with AFib.  The upper portion of the Figure reveals that the first incidence of heart failure is higher in the first year after a diagnosis of AFib, but the lower portion of the Figure shows that the cumulative incidence of CHF increases in the years after a diagnosis of AFib.[131]
