Titration of non-invasive ventilation
FIG. 32: As a therapy, NIV requires clear titration to treat objective markers of respiratory failure and sleep-disordered breathing.[1] The HOT-HMV trial protocol recommended a high-pressure ventilator set-up strategy monitored using nocturnal measures of transcutaneous CO2 and pulse oximetry to try to ensure amelioration of nocturnal hypoventilation and improve daytime respiratory failure.
