Murphy - Figure 29

Follow Up and Outcome

FIG. 29: HOT-HMV was designed to run for 12 months, with follow-ups at 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and a final 1-year follow-up.[1] The primary endpoint was admission-free survival, defined as patients admitted to hospital for any cause or who died during the follow-up period. There were a number of secondary outcomes (explanatory or exploratory). These included health status, re-admissions, exacerbations, physiologic improvements in arterial blood gas measures, subjective and objective measures of sleep-disordered breathing, as well as quality of life measures, both disease-specific (the Severe Respiratory Insufficiency [SRI] and the St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire [SGRQ]), and generic (the EuroQol 5 dimensions questionnaire [EQ-5D]).
