FIG. 24: It was also important to include only patients who were detected in the recovery phase of their exacerbation, rather than once stability had been achieved. This was because the highest risk period for recurrence is within the first 90 days following discharge, and therefore it was believed that those patients who had managed prolonged periods without readmission may represent a different phenotypic cohort.
