FIG. 11: So it is clear that there is no beneficial change in admission-free survival at 12 months when home NIV is administered to all patients who remain hypercapnic at the end of their acute exacerbation.[13] The question remains, however, whether there might be subgroups of patients who may benefit from this intervention.[14]
