This Figure shows how a group in the United Kingdom thinks that CETP inhibitors work.[32],[33] They have proposed that CETP is like a shuttle that goes back and forth between VLDL and HDL, and when it sits on VLDL, it picks up triglyceride, then shunts back over to HDL and delivers the triglyceride and picks up cholesterol, and goes back and forth. The difficulty is that it did not always work perfectly, but now, it seems to be working much better.
