This Figure summarizes the benefits of CETP inhibition:
- It increases the concentration of HDL cholesterol and its main protein, apoA-I.
- It decreases the concentration of LDL cholesterol, and surprisingly, for reasons
we don’t understand, also decreases the concentration of the apo-B.
- It decreases the cholesterol content of VLDL and thus reduces the atherogenicity
of the VLDL.
