Goldberg - Figure 11 - Responsibility for education Text

This Figure highlights the responsibility for education. Health systems, hospitals, pharmacy benefits management organizations, and insurance companies should all contribute to patient and provider education, and governmental agencies and other policy makers at the local, state, national, and international levels should be engaged in efforts to screen and treat FH. Since the development of MEDPED over 20 years ago, there have been great strides in the identification of FH through genetic testing and publication of diagnostic criteria as well as in the treatment of high cholesterol with the development of drugs, such as the statins.
