Toth - Figure 17 - Diagnosis – LDL-C levels

At what level of serum LDL cholesterol should physicians suspect that the probability of FH is ≥80%? As shown in the Figure, this probability exists when the serum LDL cholesterol level is:

≥250 mg/dL in a patient aged ≥30 years;

≥220 mg/dL for patients aged 20-29 years;

≥190 mg/dL in patients <20 year.

If a patient fulfills one of these criteria in the specified age range, then the probability of FH exceeds 80%.
