Gidding - Figure 10 - Risk management in FH

The conclusion from the preceding data emphasizes that assessment and management of overall CVD risk in FH is particularly critical. Diet, including a diet low in saturated fat and low in cholesterol, with appropriate energy intake to maintain body weight, are the mainstays of this risk management. Regular exercise and anti-tobacco counseling is also extremely important. The physician should be regularly monitoring blood pressure and body mass index and counseling or managing those problems appropriately. Finally, the FNLA also recommended measuring lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a), “lipoprotein little a”) for risk stratification.
