FIG. 45:  The vast majority of TE-CSA resolves over time.  Interestingly, more CSA tends to be seen during a split-night titration than during an full-night titration.  It is assumed that during full-night titration the pressure increase is more gradual and overtitration is thus avoided.  Full-night titration also avoids the frequent obstructive apneas that might produce arousal and hypoxemia, which could cause loop gain disturbances.  So when patients are brought back for titration, we may see an excellent response to CPAP therapy with complete resolution of both obstructive and central events, as seen in the patient in this Figure.
