Obstructive Airway Apnea

FIG. 20:  How does the automatic EPAP work? The devices are able to detect obstructed airway apneas by giving a backup breath during apnea.  They then analyze the flow signal and when there is no flow response, the event is classified as an obstructed airway apnea.  As a consequence, EPAP is increased, eg, after 2 obstructed airway apneas.
