(Hypocapnic) CSA with HCSR

FIG. 11:  This Figure shows a classic example of hypocapnic CSA with CSR.  In the chest and abdomen there is clearly zero airflow.  The small peaks in A–B have a frequency different from the peaks in B–D (which are the heartbeat, related to heart rate).  There is a long apnea crescendo change in tidal volume (A–B) and a very long cycle length (A–C) of 97 sec, indicating very low cardiac output. 

These examples emphasize that ASV must be able to treat OSA, CSA, and periodic breathing with a wide range of cycle lengths.
