Percentage of Strokes Attributable to AFib Increases with Age
Another important point is that it is not only the absolute prevalence of AFib that increases with increasing age, it is also the percentage of strokes attributable to AFib that increases with age. For example, as seen in Figure 6, the percentage of strokes attributable to AFib is much higher in octogenarians than in younger ages.[6]
