Jin - Figure 28 - ACS/ASCCP/ASCP 2012 Guidelines

This is a summary of the ACS/ASCCP/ASCP Screening Guidelines, which recommends that:

  • Screening not start for women age <21.

  • For women ages 21-29, screening should be done with cytology every 3 years.

  • Women ages ≥30-65 should be screened with:

    - Cytology and HPV testing (‘co-testing’) every 5 years (preferred). If both cytology and HPV results are
       negative, the screening interval is co-testing every 5 years, or;

    - Cytology alone every 3 years (acceptable).

  • Discontinue screening for women age >65 who have had a history of adequate screening.
