FIG. 7: This Figure illustrates the survival data from SWOG 8710,[2] showing that patients treated with combination neoadjuvant MVAC plus cystectomy had better survival than patients randomized to cystectomy alone (median 77 months vs 46 months, respectively). The unstratified P value was 0.05, 0.05 when stratified by age or stage, but 0.06 when stratified by age plus stage.
Although the study was designed for one-sided testing, it was reported as 2-sided testing according to the policies of the journal in which it was reported. If these results had been reported as the study was designed, the P values would have been half those published.
