This Figure is a cartoon illustrating the dominant pattern of inheritance in two heterozygote parents. Simple Mendelian inheritance predicts that the chance of one of their children inheriting heterozygous FH will be 2 in 4, or 50%. The chance of having a child with homozygous FH, which confers an LDL-C level 3–6-fold higher than in the general population, would be 1 in 4, or 25%.
