Rader - Figure 15 - Individualizing Therapy Based on Genetics

This Figure illustrates the concept of individualized or personalized therapy based on genetics or genotyping.  The concept is that you take people with the same clinical diagnosis, apply some sort of genetic or genotyping assay, and based on those results it is possible segregate or subset the patients into those who are perhaps more likely to respond to a particular type of therapy versus those who are not, or people who are more likely to have toxicity with a therapy versus those who are not - a way of really personalizing the approach.

I would argue that in cases of severe hypercholesterolemia there is at least the potential for genotyping as a method for facilitating the personalization of cholesterol lowering therapy.
