Patient Video
A not atypical story: a person presents to the healthcare system with a myocardial infarction (MI) - except that this patient is young (43 years old), healthy, active - and female. This short video offers an exchange between Dr. James Underberg and Wenter Blair, a patient diagnosed with Familial Hypercholesterolemia. Ms. Blair describes what her life was like before the MI, what happened when she had the MI, and how her experience affected her life and her family. Ms. Blair attended the NLA meeting and recorded her thoughts and feelings because it is her hope that her personal experience will help both physicians and patients to understand the importance of recognizing and treating familial hypercholesterolemia, even in patients who might appear not to be candidates for cardio/cerebrovascular events at all.
