One Night of ASV Therapy of CSA in Patients with Heart Failure

FIG. 40:  Looking at the effects of ASV and other treatments on the central apnea index (Figure), the results with ASV therapy and BiPAP therapy were in a similar range.  The ASV was more effective, but the major reason that ASV, not BiPAP with backup frequency, is preferred in these patients is that ASV normalizes PCO2 in chronically hyperventilating patients.
