The objectives of this presentation are to define the scope of the problem of VTE and to review current treatment recommendations for VTE – specifically those from the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) recent consensus documents – followed by a review of new scientific developments, an update of current treatment options, and finally a proposed summary of some of the gaps in current knowledge.   Hylek E.
