Misconceptions about Risk
Question #2 concerning why oral anticoagulation therapy is underutilized relates to physicians' misconceptions about the risks associated with anticoagulation therapy. As listed in the Figure, the misconceptions about the risks of anticoagulation include physician biases, overestimating the risk of anticoagulation, and overestimating the efficacy of agents other than the oral anticoagulants.
