HF Following AFib

HEART FAILURE

One of the most difficult presentations of AFib is as a comorbidity with congestive heart failure (CHF).  The Figure looks at the time trends for the incidence CHF in the first following the first diagnosis of AFib.[131] Looking at the data over 5-year periods of time starting in 1980, the cumulative association over the 20-year period remained constant, underlining that the risk of patients with AFib developing heart failure is real and therefore something that physicians must be aware of and consider as part of the management of this subset of patients.
