Jin - Figure 26 - Evolution of the Guidelines

Let’s focus on the new 2012 Cervical Cancer Screening Guidelines. This slide illustrates the evolution for the
last decade or so of associations’ Screening Guidelines.

In 2002, the American Cancer Society (ACS) became the first professional organization to include the option of
HPV co-testing in women age ≥30. Over the years, ACOG also endorsed HPV co-testing.  In the year 2012, on
the right side of the screen, we have two sets of new guidelines from the:

  1. ACS, American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP), and the American Society for
    Clinical Pathology (ASCP), and;

  2. United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF).
