Italy NTCC Trial - Methods, Design

Over 33,000 women, ages 35-60 were recruited from nine clinical centers and randomized into:

1. A conventional cytology arm.  If they had ASC-US or worse lesions they went to colposcopy.
   
   
2. The study arm, in which they used liquid-based cytology (LBC) plus HPV testing.  If they had ASC-US on LBC,
   or tested HPV positive, they went to colposcopy.
