When we are co-testing, we are going to get different results back from the lab. Here is the algorithm from the 2007
ASCCP Consensus Guidelines. If a woman tested negative on Pap and negative on HPV, certainly we will repeat
the screening in 5 years. But if they have a HPV (+) result, then we should perform co-testing in a year. If that test
comes back HPV positive, it should be considered persistently positive, and the patient should go to colposcopy.
