In 2009, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (Practice Bulletin #109) upgraded their
recommendations for HPV co-testing in women age ≥30:
- Those with a negative Pap and negative HPV result are at extremely low risk of developing CIN 2+
during the next 4-6 years.
- HPV co-testing for women in this age group became a Level A recommendation (strongest level
of recommendation).
